Facade celebrating the environment and high desert landscape
Windforms is a large mural designed to transform the west-facing facade of Bernalillo County’s headquarters into a vibrant landmark. The piece celebrates Albuquerque’s unique environment, paying homage to the geological and environmental richness of the Sandia Mountains and the high desert landscape through striking colors and abstract, curvilinear forms. This dynamic composition reflects the horizon, transitioning from earth to sky.

The mural’s flowing forms are inspired by the natural forces that shaped New Mexico’s landscape, including the wind and water erosion that sculpted sandstone, mudstone, and shale over millennia. The composition emphasizes movement, depth, and a three-dimensional quality achieved through two-dimensional painting. The design invites viewers to explore themes of nature, community and connection to the environment. The 77’ x 101’ piece is a combination of exterior-grade latex paints, UV coatings, and LED lighting.
