Current Positions:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee project execution and workflows for a growing public art practice.
This role is a leadership and enforcement role responsible for maintaining structure, accountability, and momentum across all projects and small staff. The ideal candidate thrives in a complex, fast-moving environment and is comfortable setting boundaries, directing others, and keeping work on track. This position exists to protect the artist’s time and ensure projects move forward efficiently and professionally.
Core Responsibilities
Project Oversight
Oversee all active projects from proposal, project onboarding through installation and close-out
- Maintain project schedules, deliverables, and approval timelines
- Identify risks, bottlenecks, and scope creep early
- Coordinate with clients, designers, fabricators, engineers, and vendors
- Prepare meeting agendas, track action items, and follow up
- Direct staff workflow and priorities across projects
- Serve as a primary internal point of coordination
- Support studio principal by filtering issues and escalating when needed
Systems & Structure
- Manage project management software (e.g. Asana)
- Maintain documentation, schedules, and internal trackers
- Help refine studio workflows, templates, and processes
This role is:
- Authoritative, organized, and proactive
- Comfortable setting expectations and enforcing them
- Highly communicative and detail-oriented
- Present in the studio and visible to the team
- Not a design position or purely remote coordinator
Ideal Background
- Project management experience in public art, architecture, fabrication, construction, exhibitions, or design-build environments
- Experience working with creative teams and technical collaborators
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfort managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Confidence working directly with principals and staff
- Formal project management certification is not required; real-world execution experience matters more.
Schedule
This role may begin part-time (2–3 days per week) with a combination of:
- On-site studio hours
- Remote
Part-time W-2 to start (15–20 hrs/week). Role may expand; benefits eligibility may be added if hours increase.

Computational Modeling + Visualization Lead + Production Support
Depeña Studio – Charlotte, NC (On Site required. Hybrid possible.)
Depeña Studio is seeking a highly skilled Sculptural / Architectural Designer to work directly with the Principal Artist on large-scale public art projects. This role prioritizes exceptional 3D modeling and parametric tool-making (Rhino + Grasshopper) and high-end visualizations (Lumion required) used to win committees, approvals, and clients. Production coordination and documentation are a close second and will be supported by engineers and fabrication partners, with significant growth potential for an ambitious candidate.
Role Priorities:
- Computational modeling & form development (Rhino + Grasshopper)
- High-end rendering / visualization for proposals (Lumion required; other tools welcome)
- Design-to-build support (documentation, coordination, fabrication + install support)
Core Responsibilities:
- Translate sketches and artistic direction into compelling 3D concepts and buildable design intent
- Build Grasshopper definitions and workflows to support exploration and fabrication logic
- Produce client-ready visualization packages:
- Lumion renderings (required)
- Diagrammatic visuals, views, and presentation material for committees
- Edit and work within client-provided CAD assets (Revit familiarity a plus)
- Support design development toward engineering + fabrication:
- Coordinate with engineers and fabricators/subcontractors
- Assist with detailing, assemblies, and installation concepts
- Participate in prototyping and model making as needed
- Installation coordination and assistance
- Optional/Bonus: support in-house digital fabrication (CNC, laser, 3D printing)
Ideal Background:
Degree in Architecture, Industrial Design, Sculpture, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Strong portfolio showing:
- High-quality Rhino modeling + Grasshopper workflows
- Professional-level renderings/visualizations (Lumion)
- Concept-to-presentation clarity
- Ability to communicate design intent clearly through visuals and brief narrative
- Comfort collaborating with engineers, fabricators, and a small studio team
Bonus (not required):
- Experience producing construction / assembly drawings
- Revit fluency / CAD cleanup and export workflows
- Hands-on shop experience (CNC, laser, 3D printing, prototyping)
This Role Is:
- Modeling, visualization and presentation forward
- Fast moving and very iterative
- Collaborative, with high standards for visual quality
- A role with growth into higher level production leadership over time
This Role Is Not:
- A purely remote “model and render-only” contractor role
- A junior position without strong portfolio evidence of experience
Structure:
Project-based and/or part-time initially, with strong potential to expand to full-time.

Necessary Credentials: Bachelors or Masters Degree in architecture or related field.
Necessary skills:
- CAD, Rhino, VRay, Lumion (or other 3d animation software) Revit and SketchUp. Grasshopper, Basic Code/Programming preferred.
- Adobe Suite. Photoshop, Illustrator. Video editing and After Effects a plus.
- Very important. Project renderings and visualization. High quality renderings. Making sketches and thoughts look real.
- Writing and presentation skills are a plus.
