Display behind Symphony
Live interactive light installation, abstracting the Charlotte Symphony's Conductor Laureate Christopher Warren-Green's movement and the musicians' performance into art.
Commissioned by Charlotte Symphony as part of their Knight Sounds program, the studio created an on-stage responsive, interactive light installation inspired by the Symphony’s journey through the works of popular Spanish and Latin composers. This event was a partnership between McColl Center for Art + Innovation and the Charlotte Symphony and took place at the Knight Theater in Charlotte, NC.
The studio created custom software designed to take the form of the conductor and abstract it by revealing 2D digital art. We carefully choreographed a combination of stills, video, and real-time movement acting as a “mask” to reveal and create abstract compositions in real time. The visual compositions were painstakingly cued with the musical performers to create an overall cohesive and seamless audio/visual experience.
